Environmental Protection: Supportive Comments

  1. A tremendous positive impact on open space lands would be to negotiate a "trickle" of flow (several tenths cu. ft. per sec) in the irrigation ditches during the entire year. For instance, the Davidson Ditch (and others) now flows only 1-2 months per year. When its diversion gate was damaged and flow occurred all year, the ditch became a complete riparian zone with all its fantastic life forms. Now it is dead. If the considerable legal staff at OSMP would devote a small percentage of its time to negotiate a deal with the ditch companies for "trickle" flow year-round, everyone would benefit!

  2. I am in full support of Central and South neighborhood trails being made open to mtb access. Following an alternate user-day policy, like much of Jeffco enforces at Centennial Cone, makes sense to minimize user conflict.
