CCG Member Responsibilities

OSMP has issued two major statements on the role CCG members. The first is taken from the CCG website and the second is taken from an e-mail to CCG members based on the June 18 Open Space Board of Trustees Retreat.

Roles and Expectations of CCG Members
It is the role of CCG members to work collaboratively with each other to develop and recommend a consensus-based management plan for the West TSA. CCG members will, to the best of their ability, represent the interests of the Caucus that selected them and be responsive to the Caucus in ways that are determined by the Caucus. CCG members will strive to represent all interests expressed by the Caucus, including Caucus members both affiliated and unaffiliated with recreation organizations provided they are within the purview of the West TSA planning process.

OSBT Retreat Statement
Several CCG members have asked for clarification about the nature of their role. As we indicated to you we would, staff and Heather raised this question with the Open Space Board of Trustees at their retreat on June 18th. After some discussion, the Board agreed that the role of CCG members includes the following:
  1. Consulting with constituents to learn their perspectives on issues related to the West TSA
  2. Recording constituents’ perspectives and reporting the full spectrum of views to the CCG. This does not mean reporting each individual view heard, but rather the range of views heard. This does mean reporting on all issues heard, including issues on which constituents may not be agreed like bikes, dogs, and other.
  3. Negotiating with other CCG members to find the best solution possible for as many of their constituents as possible, using the information gathered during constituent consultation as a guide, as well as their own judgment, knowledge, and experience
